Come Watch Artisans Hand-Cut Wooden Puzzles!
By malbitz on 1/24/2012 8:46 AM
The art of crafting wooden puzzles have been mastered by few. The design of the cuts is hand generated and, consequently, no two jigsaw puzzles are alike. Quality puzzles are designed to artfully combine the image with the design of the cut pieces to enhance the enjoyment of the user. The artist controls the puzzle's skill level by varying the number of pieces and the complexity of the cuts. Typically, the more pieces the puzzle is cut into, the more difficult it is to assemble. High-quality customized wooden jigsaw puzzles are gaining in popularity.

If you are fascinated by the amazing work of artisans hand cutting wooden puzzles, sign up or visit the Jigsaw Puzzle Building Competition! There are only FOUR DAYS LEFT to sign up!! Hurry and put your name on the list!!!

See you Saturday!

Puzzles That Rock
By malbitz on 12/20/2011 5:46 PM
With Christmas approaching you probably have received numerous holiday letters and pictures from friends and families all relating their stories of the year. Here at Jigsaw Java, we wanted to share a few excerpts from a letter we received from Puzzles That Rock, a family owned company that supplies us unique Petoskey Stone Puzzles.

For those unfamiliar with Petoskey Stones, they are a combination of rock and fossil; often pebble shaped and composed of fossilized coral. The stones are formed as a result of glaciations, in which sheets of ice pulled stones from their foundation, grinding off their rough edges and depositing them in different areas of Michigan. When they are dry, the stones resemble ordinary limestone but when they are wet, a distinctive spotted pattern of the six-sided coral fossils is visible.

The Claflin family had a specialty food store for 6 years and in 2009 they could financially not stay open for another year.
