Many parents ask about Jigsaw Java's birthday parties. Here are the main questions and their answers:

1) What do you do at the parties?

I let the kids play freely with all the puzzles and games on a particulat set of shelves. Oftentimes the host family will provide a small snack at this time. This takes about 30-45 minutes. Then I bring out blank jigsaw puzzles for them to draw on and create their own puzzles. This part takes another 30-45 minutes. Then it's time for cake and singing happy birthday and the next thing you know, 2 hours have gone by.

Often parents are worried that there will not be enough for the kids to do. Jigsaw Java is like that big cardboard box that your kid plays with more than the fancy expensive toy. I am always amazed at how the children can really keep themselves busy, playing creatively and cooperatively her at Jigsaw Java. It's part of our mission to build communities and our birthday parties accomplish this mission for both the adults and the children.

Last Sunday, Jigsaw Java had a birthday party that had a custom puzzle made of each attendee. The kids, with some help from the adults, put these together to figure out whose puzzle was whose since they didn't come with pictures on the boxes. The kids were thrilled to have a puzzle that was made from a picture of them.

2) Can we bring in our own food?

Sure, no problem. But if you would like me to provide the cake and drinks, it's a higher price level per child

3) What is the recommend ages for these parties? I recommend any age above 3 years old and the prime ages are 5 and above.

4) How many people can Jigsaw Java accommodate? We can accommodate up to 35 people.

5) What is the pricing for birthday parties?

This has been a work in progress and the prices will go up as of November 1 to the following: $65 base fee which includes plates, cups, napkins, games and puzzles +

  • $10 per child includes the 2 mini puzzles they create
  • $15 per child includes the 2 mini puzzles they create, cake and drinks
  • $20 per child includes the 1 custom puzzle, 1 mini puzzle they create, cake and drinks

All parties require minimum of 14 day advance notice and $50 deposit. Custom puzzle parties require that you provide the picture no less than 14 days in advance to insure their arrival by date of party (exception: parties in December require photos be provided before Dec. 1).
